Diary Entry

7 October 1944 Failed island supply flight

Channel Islands: the supply flight by two He 111 aircraft intended for last night failed. One aircraft dropped out soon after take-off; the second failed to find the island and, according to the air transport commander, dropped its load at sea between the islands and St Malo. Contrary to the original intention, naval goods, particularly the important spare parts for vessels under repair, had not been loaded in the aircraft. The supply flight is to be repeated in the coming night.
