Radio message 1158 from the Head of Convoy Control to the Commander, 24th Minesweeper Flotilla: Breithaupt had departed with M 452. An earlier transmission had incorrectly named M 412.
Jersey direction-finding stations located the cutters at anchor about one nautical mile west of the Pinnacle. V 229 was not in fact anchored. A.F. 65 had attempted to tow both boats but abandoned the effort in sea state 5. V 228 anchored; V 229 got one engine running and held against the current until F.K. 01 took it in tow. A.F. 65 proceeded ahead.
