Lightning loss and capture of Second Lieutenant Moutray
Location Details
Jersey; St Brelade
Diary Entry
7 January 1945 Lightning loss and capture of Second Lieutenant Moutray
Editorial note: Supplementary account of the Lightning loss already recorded on 7 January in T-1022 Roll 2422, scan 0760, original diary page 13. That diary gives 17:25, a land crash, recovery of the pilot from St Brelade’s Bay by Hummerboot 3, and his belief that he was over the Isle of Wight. J-2808 gives 17:08 and capture at 19:30, and adds the pilot’s identity and hospital status. Both reported times are retained without reconciliation. This is the same incident, not an additional aircraft loss or combat action.
