6 October 1942 Alert cancellation and revised authority to declare alerts

Editorial note: Additional dated readiness instructions applying to the islands; an alert is not evidence that an attack occurred.

For the night of 6–7 October, army ordered Alert Level I from 22:00 in this corps’ coastal zone and islands and in 709 and 335 Divisions’ coastal sectors. Emergency combat-list personnel were excluded. Corps could lift it next morning, notifying army, when visibility excluded surprise.
