Weather: wind 210°, 7 m/sec. From 2015 to 2100 Battery Steinbruch practises firing illuminating shells. Expenditure: twelve 15-cm illuminating shells. One fails to illuminate because its parachute does not unfold.
Mirus battery: barrack construction continued; one Tobruk position was completed; wiring work within the battery continued. Strasbourg battery: battery personnel continued the splinter-protection trenches. Camouflage of the 22-cm guns was completed, and the barrack for the 2-cm anti-aircraft crew was reinforced.
Steinbruch battery: Organisation Todt work continued, but pouring could not begin because of a shortage of cement. Excavation began for the new ammunition bunker, and the machine-house base was poured. Battery personnel continued work on the infantry positions. The rifle and machine-gun range was completed, and the storm-damaged roof of the central barrack was renewed.
31 January–6 February: Organisation Todt continued removing shuttering from the fire-control post and prepared to transport the armoured cupolas. At ammunition replenishment bunker II, excavation for drainage continued. Preparations for pouring accommodation bunker 2 continued; otherwise there were no changes. Battery personnel improved roads, repaired storm and rain damage, continued position construction and worked on drainage for the barracks.
