Diary Entry
4 October 1942 Security inspections following the Sark raid
Commander-in-Chief West states that the raid succeeded because orders and elementary precautions were disregarded. Advanced and isolated posts require constant checking; no coastal accommodation may be outside strongpoints. Longer, darker nights increase the risk of raids. Corps orders all divisions to inspect accommodation for all three services and report by 11 October on compliance and measures taken.
