Related existing record: 4 October 1942 Part 7 — 4 October 1942 Sark raid reporting sequence garrison and supply details. This separate source account concerns material already represented in that record; it does not by itself establish an additional incident.

On 4 October at about 04.10 hours, a British landing party approximately sixteen men strong raided a house occupied by one NCO and four men of 2nd Company, Engineer Battalion 319, on Sark. The house was about 500 metres from the coast. The men were led away with their hands bound. They attempted to free themselves, and three men succeeded. In the struggle the NCO was killed; one man was seriously wounded and has since died; one man was slightly wounded; one man is missing. The British landing party escaped. Details will be reported separately.

Editorial note: This is the contemporary German account. Its statements about the prisoners and struggle are retained as source claims.
