Diary Entry
4 July 1943 Channel Islands Sea Defence diary
No special occurrences in the day’s entry. Retrospective report received from Anti-Aircraft Brigade 11 at 10:40 on 5 July: between 19:50 and 20:20 on 4 July, six enemy four-engined aircraft flew from BF 3574 upper right through BF 2696 right centre, 2693 upper left, 2669 centre and 2662 lower left, then departed northwards. Their height was 50–100 metres. Their zigzags and circles, in partly obscured visibility, strongly suggested mine-laying, although no mines were seen to be dropped.
