Heavy weather interrupted shipping between the Channel Islands. Twelve enemy aircraft attacked two harbour-protection craft off Ver-sur-Mer on 22 October, wounding four men. On 24 October, forty to fifty enemy aircraft were reported north of Caen and five bombers were claimed shot down. A further strong evening incursion resulted in two additional claims. The corps ordered more mortars for coastal defence, reflecting the army commander’s inspection.
