30 July 1943 Reducing medical passenger traffic from the Channel Islands Annex 37
Secret. To the 319th Division. Corps has noted the 17 July report. In the corps medical officer’s view, existing medical facilities can accommodate substantially more patients. The army medical officer has permitted almost all surgical operations in island hospitals. Referrals to mainland medical facilities for examination can be reduced without expanding existing island facilities. The commanding general has already informed the divisional commander of this. Corps will ask the Admiral Commanding Channel Coast to use suitable cargo vessels as supplementary passenger transport.
