3 October 1943 Artillery deployment and exchange of captured guns

Top secret. Deploy III/Artillery Regiment 669 near Les Pieux to flank the coast north of Cap de Flamanville, including Vauville Bay, and south of the cape; main emphasis on the latter. Move Equipment Battery Osteck, four 10.5 cm K331(f), close to the shore to flank the coast southwest of Osteck. Move Equipment Battery Fort du Roule to Barfleur subgroup; 709th Division renames it and it takes over Coastal Position Battery 317’s task. Battery 317 takes over II/Artillery Regiment 384’s task, excluding its 5th Battery, from a suitable position.

After arrival and readiness of six 10.5 cm K331(f) guns from the Channel Islands: rearm Battery Brasilia of 716th Division with four of these guns; cancel the battery exchange ordered on 21 July. Rearm 3/669 with Brasilia’s four released 10.5 cm light field howitzers 14/19(t). Employ 10/669 guns in anti-landing roles on the Cotentin east coast south of Saint-Vaast; incorporate this in the east-coast permanent construction programme [preceding number/type faint]. Place six 10.5 cm K331(f) in the former Fort du Roule equipment battery position. By agreement with Naval Commander Normandy the navy takes them over, subsequently develops a battery and, once the casemates are ready, places them in those positions [final allocation faint].
