3 November 1943 Channel Islands Sea Defence diary
10:05 — Weather: wind 135°, 5 m/sec. Two Hurricanes approaching from the south strafed Casquets. Hits were sustained in the quarters and lighthouse. The outer light — Security Measure Ida Cäsar, serial No. 7 in the Channel Islands security plan — was put out of action when its lens was shattered. There were no personnel casualties.
15:22 — Four further British fighters, probably Spitfires, approached Casquets at an altitude of 50 metres and a distance of 15 hectometres. The strongpoint engaged them with 2-cm anti-aircraft weapons; the aircraft departed to the south and south-east. No hits or enemy counter-action were observed. Ammunition expenditure: eight 2-cm rounds.
