Diary Entry
3 June 1942 Commander Security West review of St Malo’s first-half April diary
Top secret command matter. Commander Security West, Gkdos 1903 A 4, 3 June 1942. To Naval Group Command West; information to Convoy Control Office St Malo and 3rd Security Division. The diary for 1–15 April is submitted with the divisional comments.
On 2 April, page 4, and the divisional review: the newly established Sea Transport Chief Channel Islands should take up troop convoys and arrange greater concentration, dispensing with daily convoys. The necessary increase in outpost positions does not concern the convoy office. The new positions will be occupied by the 7th Patrol Flotilla. Lézardrieux–Brest is not much farther than Lézardrieux–St Malo, and the railway connection to Brest is better. Moreover, the 2nd Patrol Flotilla is heavily occupied with the special duties of Channel Islands convoys. The additional boats were therefore allocated to the 7th Patrol Flotilla, whose duties have hitherto been less extensive.
On 12 April, page 14: Commander Security West has urgently requested Admiral France to alter Alderney’s harbour lights; according to his assurance the alteration will be carried out. For Commander Security West, Chief of Staff [signature].
