Diary Entry
3 February 1943 3rd Security Division review of St Malo diary for 16–31 December
One copy of the St Malo Convoy Control Office diary for 16–31 December 1942 is enclosed. Concerning page 22, 26 December at 2300 and 27 December at 0300: the purpose of the S.M. service is defeated unless the relevant reports of ship movements reach the responsible office with scrupulous accuracy and punctuality. It is requested that the Sea Commanders, Channel Islands and Normandy, be reminded that harbour-defence boat movements must also be brought to the convoy office's notice promptly. Otherwise serious misunderstandings and unwanted disturbances during unexpected encounters can arise. By order [signature]. [S.M.-Dienst retained as the source's abbreviation.]
