Diary Entry
29 September 1942 Hitler discusses a possible attack on the Channel Islands
Date note: Conference of 29 September, recorded by Colonel Brücker on 2 October. This is the memorandum’s account of Hitler’s assessment, not evidence of Allied operational intentions.
The situation in Holland, Belgium and France is critical. Protection of our convoys is important here too. The Führer considers it possible that the first British attack could be directed against the Channel Islands, repeatedly emphasising the importance of the coastal approaches for our convoys.
