Diary Entry
28 March 1945 Fuel requested for island supply and mail flights
e) Naval High Command West has requested fuel from the Luftwaffe High Command’s Chief of Air Transport to continue supply flights to the Channel Islands and La Rochelle, after the fortress commanders of Lorient and St Nazaire reported that the resumption of mail deliveries by a large aircraft had worked wonders for the fighting spirit and morale of the troops.
Naval High Command West therefore considers it especially important to continue mail deliveries to the other fortresses as well, using an available Ju 252 large transport aircraft, and also requests fuel to continue the most urgent other supply flights.
