27 March 1943 E boats return to Saint Peter Port

1020 — Commander, 5th E-boat Flotilla reports entering Saint Peter Port at 0645. Boats repeatedly examined the convoy route but did not find the convoy. At 0158, brief heavy surprise fire from MGBs caused no casualties or damage. At 0315 the flotilla began its return from assembly square 2618 to Saint Peter Port. The 2nd and 4th Flotillas and pair S 91/S 39 completed their return to operational ports as planned (see diary, 26 March, 1530), without noteworthy incident.
