26 January 1943 Warning concerning combined naval and commando attacks Annex 18
Corps signal sent at 19:55 to the 716th, 709th, 165th and 319th Divisions. Top secret, Ia 195.
Commander-in-Chief West reports: During the night of 23/24 January, a British motor torpedo boat group made a thrust against the Norwegian coast. Several coastal batteries and a signal station repulsed it with gunfire. There were exchanges of fire with German patrol boats. A land-defence platoon was attacked from the landward side by a commando apparently landed earlier. One gun was destroyed, several men were killed or wounded, and the platoon commander and seven men are missing.
The troops are to be informed by the quickest possible means of this coordination between attacking naval forces and commandos landed beforehand, and are continually to be trained in defence against attacks from the landward side. Copy to Artillery Commander 118.
