Diary Entry
26 December 1942 Channel Islands Sea Defence diary
Weather: wind from 45°, 2 m/s.
No special events. Construction, M.A.A. 604: work in progress at all three batteries continued, but no noteworthy changes can be reported because of the working time lost over the holidays. At Battery Mirus, interior fitting-out of the bunkers has stalled because practically all Siemens fitters have gone on leave.
M.A.A. 605, Battery West, Organisation Todt: further preparations for pouring the control post. Installation of iron doors and hoists in turrets 1–4 temporarily suspended. Machinery-bunker work suspended. Ammunition replenishment bunker I: excavation continues; bunker II: further excavation [as printed, despite the earlier reports of stripping shuttering]. Accommodation bunker 2: reinforcement continues; bunker 4: further excavation under the new plan. Battery’s own work: construction of the common room and all-round wire obstacles continue.
Signed on behalf of the commanding officer [signature not securely read].
