25 April 1942 Alderney Harbour Captain diary

Clear, visibility 2–3 nautical miles, fog; NE 6–7, very rough sea. 0900: Distress signal from two German airmen at 49°51′ N, 02°41′ E. The harbour-protection boats could not put to sea because of the bad weather; no other vessels were present. [The source types east longitude; retained without silent correction.]
