24 May 1943 Part 4 Weekly assessment of convoy attacks
Enemy air activity increased considerably again. In addition to active reconnaissance, there were low-level attacks on railway stations, trains and individual vehicles. Bombing attacks were made on Carpiquet airfield and on convoys, including shipping traffic with the Channel Islands for the first time again in more than three weeks, and on Lorient. Losses and damage in the Army’s area remained within moderate limits.
Editorial note: The assessment is headed 17–22 May in the source and is entered on 24 May. Its statement about renewed attacks is retained as written.
