23 June 1944 Part 10 Minelaying and an attack on a convoy bound for Jersey

Enemy vessels carried out minelaying in the Channel Islands area. In the early morning, one of our convoys from Saint-Malo to Jersey was attacked by enemy gunboats. During the engagement two enemy gunboats were sunk, while one of our minesweepers and one merchant ship were lost.

Repeated enemy fighter sweeps took place throughout the LXXIV Army Corps area, with their main concentration around Avranches.
