22 October 1942 Guernsey batteries engage plotted naval targets
On the night of 21–22 October, three targets plotted about thirteen kilometres south-west of Guernsey turned out to sea after being engaged; they were believed to be enemy destroyers. Generaloberst Dollmann inspected the coastal batteries on 21–22 October and expressed full recognition of the construction work and plans. Corps headquarters opposed further artillery manpower reductions because fixed captured weapons had already created a shortage of crews.
