21 October: Boat Order 551: M 4618/M 4612/M 4613/M 4614 available WO course in Saint-Malo Bay 14:00–19:00; further orders to follow. 12:55: cast off and cleared lock. 13:45: anchored. 14:20: course boarded. 14:35: weighed; manoeuvring practice, SE 2–3, sea 2, moderate visibility, overcast. 19:30: course disembarked, boats anchored. 23:10: by escort-office order M 4613 released to 2nd Patrol Flotilla. Boat Order 553: after course, collect Midsland, René-Marguerite, Holstein and Irene at 23:45 for Jersey; convoy not yet clear of lock. [Some evening times are faint.]
