Editorial note: Additional dated readiness instructions applying to the islands; an alert is not evidence that an attack occurred.
Calm weather and good early-night visibility allowed operations against coast and islands. Heightened readiness began at 21:00 for all services, excluding auxiliaries and combat-list personnel. II/Tank Regiment 202 was to be ready to move rapidly without premature fuel expenditure. Divisions cancelled between 08:30 and 09:00; corps reported cancellation at 09:00 on 22 October.
