Diary Entry
21–25 June 1940
Planning continued for the occupation force and its command arrangements. The former western special staff under Kapitän zur See Degenhardt was to provide reconnaissance knowledge, liaison and staff support. Questions included the availability of heavy and light coastal artillery, anti-aircraft weapons, transport, naval communications and suitable forces from the newly occupied French coast.
By 25 June the command had received no indication of established German forces on the islands and continued to depend on air reconnaissance. It ordered that a naval officer be sent to prepare the movement of the assault detachment and to establish contact with the military authorities responsible for the landing.
