Diary Entry

01:10 — Alderney
The sea-target alarm for the Alderney Group ended. The targets in grid squares B.F. 3518/19, on a north-north-easterly course at 17 knots, had passed beyond measuring range.
The question arose whether enemy anti-submarine groups could be engaged by artillery, despite the presence of our own U-boats, in order to relieve them. A decision was requested from the Commander-in-Chief U-boats (Naval Staff Officer) by radio telegram FT 1058/21.
