20 October 1942 Island alert after a possible landing warning

At 04:45 on 20 October, Naval Commander Normandy warned that enemy interference with German activity might precede an operation. Marine Group West reported heavy traffic between Plymouth and Portsmouth, including motor landing craft and escorts, and considered a landing entirely possible. Commander-in-Chief West ordered increased vigilance. Alert Level I was imposed over the coast and islands at 21:00, with the corps reserve and II Battalion, Panzer Regiment 202 warned, but was lifted the following morning. At about 13:00 on 21 October, British aircraft attacked Théville airfield with roughly twenty-five high-explosive and incendiary bombs.
