2 October 1942 Alderney Harbour Commandant diary

Clear, visibility 12 nautical miles, NNW 1, sea 2. 0500: Vp 712/10 departed for Guernsey with RO 8 and Ostflandern. 0520: RO 8 caught the net barrier in her propeller and became unserviceable; the barrier was damaged. 0542: The patrol boats continued with Ostflandern. 0735: FK 22 returned from patrol. 1100: FC 33/35 arrived from Guernsey. 1515: Departed for Guernsey. 1530: SA 5 departed for Guernsey with Captain Steinbach. 1720: RO 8 was ready for sea again; the barrier pendant was replaced and the barrier restored to service. 2045: FK 08 went to patrol position.
