I/Panzer Regiment 100 has departed. Cadres for Engineer Battalion 352 are assembled: headquarters and second company at Le Molay, first company at Goville, third at Bernesq. Major Schwehm [name indistinct] has begun duty as island commander of Alderney. At 16:30 on 1 November a Typhoon was shot down four kilometres south of Caen; the pilot was killed. Last night, seven kilometres north of Guernsey, army coastal and naval batteries fired after radar detection at two barrage balloons. One floated on the water and was connected to the other by a wire cable about 500 metres long. The airborne balloon was recovered during the morning on the island’s south coast. It was about fifteen metres long and marked M.I. XIII A. 76 105. No other special events.
