Diary Entry

19 October 1942 Part 6a Weekly assessment of air activity

Related existing record: 19 October 1942 Part 6 — 19 October 1942 Active air activity over the Channel Islands. This separate source account concerns material already represented in that record; it does not by itself establish an additional incident.

Assessment for 12–18 October 1942: considerable enemy air activity over the Channel Islands and the whole coastal area of the Army. Aircraft gunfire and occasional bombing attacks were directed against troop accommodation, strongpoints and harbours, with the main emphasis in the St Brieuc–Lannion area. No major damage in the Army’s area.

Editorial note: The damage statement covers the wider Army area and is not an island-specific assessment.
