Diary Entry
18 November 1943 Island stocks excluded from depot dispersal
Extract from clause 4: if, after renewed examination, valuable stores of any kind are judged to be too far forward and too exposed to enemy seizure, or if a different distribution or dispersal proves necessary, there is still time to make improvements within the organisation of the overall winter defence.
“This does not apply to stocks in defence areas, strongpoint groups, strongpoints, resistance nests and on the islands.”
Editorial note: The order states that the coast must be defended to the last and any enemy landing counterattacked. The island provision is general; Jersey is not named separately.
