Corps Headquarters, Ia 2275/43 (1100), secret, to Seventh Army. References: Army order of 2 March and the 319th Division’s teleprinter message of 16 March.
The Commander of the Channel Islands reports: in normal conditions all 319th Division leave travellers are, from their arrival at Saint-Malo, administratively and tactically subordinate to the commander of Armed Forces Supply Staff Saint-Malo.
The commandant of Front Routing Office 5 is responsible for complete registration, accommodation and provision of the leave travellers. First Lieutenant Müller, head of the Army permanent cadre, directs their duties in cooperation with the head of Branch Front Routing Office 105. He must ensure varied duties and appoint platoon and squad leaders before duty begins. Hold drill, practice marches, small tactical exercises and instruction on the war situation. Müller checks that use of leave travellers on work duties is appropriately arranged.
All leave travellers must be assigned to alarm formations. Müller briefs them on their duties at increased alarm readiness and every higher alarm stage. The Saint-Malo defended-area commandant determines their employment in these cases.
