General
In reply to an enquiry from the Chief Quartermaster, Chief Quartermaster West decides that Commander Army Supply Troops 592, Colonel Lübbecke, remains subordinate to Senior Commander of Supply Troops 6. The Chief Quartermaster requests that Colonel Dähne again be sent to Army headquarters to settle employment questions definitively.
Discussion between the Chief Quartermaster and Ia, Colonel of the General Staff Helmdach, establishes:
1. LXXXVI Army Corps headquarters has been taken over. Situation briefings are in progress. Establishment of the supply base is important.
2. Continue filling the forward supply strongpoints on the left.
The armed-forces supply staff at St-Malo reports that Naval Group West has approved sea transport from St-Malo to Cherbourg. The first shipment takes place on 18 June. Sea transport from St-Malo to Granville is possible, but Granville harbour is so badly damaged that lorries cannot approach it.
The St-Malo supply staff further reports that 80 tonnes will be carried from St-Malo to Cherbourg by motor torpedo boats during the night of 17 June.
The authorised transportation officer confirms, in response to an enquiry, that rail transport from Nantes and St-Nazaire to St-Malo is possible.
The transport of personnel on leave for Jersey is assigned to Field Replacement Battalion 353.
Panzer Lehr Division’s enquiry whether the Army can provide 400 tonnes of transport capacity to move artillery ammunition from Nogent to Chartres is answered in the negative. The matter will also be pursued with Chief Quartermaster West.
I SS Panzer Corps is asked to check Panzer Lehr Division’s transport tonnage.
Qu 1 orders preparation of evacuation regulations for the ten-kilometre zone of XXXXVII Panzer Corps.
Supply Staff 905 is employed at Thouars, south of Angers, to control ammunition rail transports for Seventh Army headquarters.
The repair echelon and armourer’s workshop of Tank Destroyer Staff 177 are employed by Seventh Army headquarters.
