Diary Entry
16 November 1942 Channel Islands Sea Defence diary
Weather: wind from 75°, 1 metres per second.
Secret diary for 16–30 November 1942, enclosure to Sea Commander Channel Islands G 2873.
09:05 entry: Alert Level I cancelled by 319th Infantry Division for 09:00–18:00; restored from 18:00. Les Hanois lighthouse in operation from 16 November.
On 14 November at 11:30 the harbour-protection group sank a mine in front of the inner harbour barrier by fire from ships’ weapons. Because the Channel Islands Harbour Protection Flotilla had dealt with this as a registry matter, it could only be forwarded to Naval Commander Channel Coast today. Otherwise no special occurrences. [The mine incident is a retrospective report, not an event of 16 November.]
Signed Steinbach.
