16 June 1944 Part 4 Request to transfer a reinforced battle group from the islands

Now that the enemy has begun a major attack against Normandy, the threat to the Channel Islands has receded into the background. As no major enemy operations are expected in this area, Army Headquarters requests Army Group’s permission to transfer a reinforced battle group of the 319th Infantry Division to the mainland. It has also been ordered that men returning from leave to the 319th Infantry Division, who are assembling at Saint-Malo, are to be assigned to the field replacement battalion of the 353rd Infantry Division for employment on the mainland.
