[Scan 1130.jpg] Operations Branch IIa, no. 37831/41, top secret command matter. 15 October 1941. Third of three copies. Returned to the General of Engineers and Fortresses at Army High Command.
Enclosed is the proposal of the Inspector of National Fortifications attached to Commander-in-Chief West for permanent construction on the British Channel Islands, returned with an opinion from Operations Branch V. The final garrison strengths of the Channel Islands will be communicated after a decision on the intended reorganization of the island garrisons. The armoured forces will probably be increased to one company each on Guernsey and Jersey. Ammunition holdings will be increased to as much as eight allocations.
According to information from the Führer’s Adjutant’s Office, an Armed Forces High Command order on construction on the British Channel Islands, setting out construction details, is expected shortly. See also Army High Command, Army General Staff, Operations Branch IIa inquiry no. 1582/41, top secret, of 13 October 1941. Signed Heusinger. Certified correct: [signature unclear], Captain on the General Staff.
