Diary Entry
Assessment
1. Enemy convoy traffic had evidently decreased; even with adequate visibility, few observations were made.
2. Assessment of the effect of stormy northerly weather upon Cherbourg's usability was hampered by visibility of 7 nautical miles or less and by inbound traffic lying at the edge of radar range. Since convoys had been detected in poor visibility on earlier days with moderate winds but not during this period, the strong northerly weather was judged likely still to be restricting Cherbourg.
3. The enemy might have transferred Cherbourg convoy traffic to night because of German U-boats. Alderney radar was therefore to be operated for longer periods at night as fuel stocks permitted.
