By dead reckoning, off the Les Buharats buoy. The buoy with the green flashing light was not at the charted position. From its position it had to be the western approach buoy to St Malo. Its identification had therefore either been altered or a new buoy had been laid. Because dead reckoning did not show clearly whether the buoy lay in the northern or southern channel, and because the green identification could also indicate a wreck buoy, I decided in any event to lay the mines in the channel, in the western alternative position in accordance with the operational order. I turned to starboard and commenced the run on a bearing of 270 degrees.
