Subject: Fortification of the Channel Islands.
Enclosure: one folder.
Eleven copies. Second copy.
To: 319th Infantry Division, copies 1–4; Inspector of Land Fortifications attached to Commander in Chief West, copies 5–10.
Enclosed is the monthly report on the state of construction as at 1 May 1942, in accordance with paragraph 14 of the referenced order.
On the basis of the previous report, the General of Engineers and Fortresses attached to the Commander in Chief of the Army has ordered:
1. Reports are no longer to be numbered. The reporting date is to be the date of submission to OKW, and the effective date the first day of the previous month. Accordingly, the report is designated “Construction progress report of 1 June 1942, showing the state of construction on 1 May 1942”.
2. Changes on the maps are no longer to be marked with red dots. Only important individual cases are to be explained on the maps.
3. Reinforced field construction and permanent construction are to be distinguished only by line thickness. The state of construction is to be shown throughout by the colours used hitherto.
4. Where other batteries are temporarily occupying the positions of the planned batteries, both gun symbols are to be shown with their current type of construction.
In all other respects the report format is to remain unchanged.
To expedite matters, the copies for the General of Engineers attached to the Commander in Chief of the Army will, as before, be submitted directly to the Inspector of Land Fortifications attached to Commander in Chief West.
