Diary Entry
14 December 1942 Island headquarters reductions and supply responsibilities
Editorial note: Date provisional from the December sequence in the supplied edition; detailed vehicle quantities are unclear.
319 Division can surrender certain vehicles but not drivers. Further reduction of its headquarters is considered impracticable under Channel Islands conditions: the headquarters is divided between the mainland and Guernsey, courier traffic is demanding, and supply administration serves about 46,000 men and substantial stores. Supply troops cannot take over clerical and headquarters duties because they are already inadequate on the islands; establishment of economic companies had been requested.
