Diary Entry
14 August 1943 Escape of GU 28 as investigated on 16 August
Retrospective investigation recorded on 16 August: fisherman Corbet left St Sampson at 15:35 on 14 August in GU 28. The VGAD (K) harbour guard inspected the boat as prescribed. Corbet and the British civilians Hubert and Bougourd were aboard. Corbet’s fishing permit had been forged by changing the authorised number of persons from two to three. At about 16:00, off Port de Noirmont, Mr and Mrs Le Page boarded. At another, still unknown place, Mrs Corbet and Moreilles boarded, together with fuel and provisions.
Translator’s note: the investigation gives departure as 15:35; the initial report in the 14 August diary gives 16:25. Both source statements are retained.
