Diary Entry
13 October 1944 Postal supply to the islands
Miscellaneous: fortress situation reports repeatedly contain complaints of inadequate mail supply. Besides comradeship broadcasts, increased mail deliveries and occasional collection of mail from the fortresses are the best means of maintaining the encircled garrisons’ fighting spirit. Following the successful He 115c supply flight to St Nazaire and La Rochelle, regular use of the same aircraft type would be desirable to improve postal supply to the Atlantic fortresses. At the same time, postal supply to the Channel Islands should be improved through more frequent intermediate landings by supply aircraft. A request to examine possibilities is sent to Luftwaffe Command West.
