Diary Entry
13 October 1942 Sark raid lessons circulated by Seventh Army
Date note: Circulation date 13 October. Not an additional raid.
Seventh Army circulates the Armed Forces High Command order of 6 October on the raid of 4 October. The engineer detachment had been on Sark since 23 September to repair harbour barriers. The order emphasises guarded obstacles, no accommodation outside protected positions, and vigilance even where difficult coast and currents appear to offer protection.
The order’s claims about guides, residents and carrier pigeons are German suppositions. The raid and removal of the island commandant are already recorded in the master; this entry records the circulation of lessons.
