Diary Entry
12 October 1942 Heightened readiness, 12–13 October
Editorial note: Additional dated readiness instructions applying to the islands; an alert is not evidence that an attack occurred.
Moderate winds and seas, worsening visibility and some rain permit sea and landing operations. Heightened defensive readiness is ordered from 21:00 in this corps’ coastal zone and islands and in the sectors of 709 and 335 Divisions. This means manned weapons and reinforced patrols according to divisional orders. Divisions may cancel when visibility excludes surprise. Corps reported cancellation at 08:30 on 13 October.
