Diary Entry

10 November 1943 Subsequent assessment of Casquets supply

Undated subsequent assessment of the diary’s 10 November entry at 11:13. Secret. For the Commanding Admiral Channel Coast, acting Chief of Staff; signature unclear.

I concur with the Naval Commander's statement. The available boats are too slow and are exposed to enemy daytime air attacks; the supply of Casquets is therefore seriously endangered. Requests for at least two fast courier boats have been submitted for months.

The result to date is that Rhyn, capable of 10.7 knots, is expected in approximately three weeks and Balkis, capable of 14 knots, in approximately eight weeks. Accelerated provision of two of the five motor fishing cutters intended for the Channel Islands Harbour-Protection Flotilla has been requested.
