Top secret telegram received 1 September 1943 at 23:35; Seventh Army dispatch at 23:15. Repeated enemy naval appearances in the Channel, apparently clearing their own mines, suggest preparations for heavy naval forces to open fire on the coast. Heightened defensive/alarm readiness is ordered throughout LXXXIV Army Corps, including the Channel Islands and all reserves, including army and army-group reserves.
