Diary Entry
1 October 1942 Island static defences and 319th Division organisation
Date note: Placed by the date printed on the static-defence panel. The adjoining divisional panel may bear its own earlier effective date; those dates remain visible in the original.
Editorial note: Selected island-related text and translated chart keys; original symbols and numerical tables are retained in the images. Uncertain small annotations are not silently expanded.
The island chart distinguishes static weapons and troops under command on Guernsey, Sark, Alderney and Jersey from the organisation of 319th Infantry Division. It includes Army coastal artillery, naval artillery, tanks, signals, engineers and supply services. Lothringen appears in the Jersey naval artillery section.
English key: Bodenständig, static; Unterstellt, under command; Infanterie, infantry; Heeres-Küsten-Artillerie, Army coastal artillery; Marine-Artillerie, naval artillery; Landeabwehr-Geschütze, landing-defence guns. The dated panels and detailed symbols are retained in the original.
Repeated appearances of the same panel are consolidated. A later parent folder date is not used to turn an earlier dated chart into a new deployment event.
