Diary Entry
1 November 1944
07:35–08:15 — Alderney
Batteries Annes, Elsaß and Blücher, together with four batteries of Mixed Anti-Aircraft Battalion 197, engaged the destroyer in grid squares B.F. 3542 and 3518. Fire was initially controlled by observation and, after the target disappeared in haze, by radar. After the sixth salvo from Battery Elsaß, a strong flash was observed, probably a hit. The destroyer then proceeded north at minimum speed without significant alterations of course and disappeared in the haze. Firing continued using radar plots.
