1 November 1944 Alderney battery action and island supply voyages

Naval situation. Channel: nine transports seen north of Dunkirk on an easterly course, also several destroyers and smaller vessels, probably minesweepers. From 0735 to 0815 Alderney batteries fire on an enemy destroyer to the north. Battery “Elsaß” and other posts observe a strong flash at the sixth salvo. Target disappears into haze with a heavy list. Grain convoy Jersey–Guernsey and supply voyage Jersey–Minquiers completed.
